i didn't exactly intend to forget
about updating the site.......... :)
in reality i just got swamped with real life, and managed to
find the time to get back to this on this most unfortunate
day
but i'm not gonna talk about that, because that's dreadful
and mass death makes me feel ill! so instead i'd like to
wish a very happy 25th birthday to one of my favorite
albums, the glow pt. 2 by the microphones (phil elverum, now
"mount eerie")!
in fact, i recorded two covers of songs from that album
today! or rather, re-recorded one and newly recorded
another, along with
some other scattered selections from nik's music emporium.
~~~
in other news, college.
screenprinting was cancelled due to low enrollment so i had
to switch it for a sociological mathematics class :|
not that it's boring (i'm going to be learning pythagorean
tuning which is sort of relevant to me!) but i was just
looking forward to
learning a new art form i guess.
in other other news, i also managed to snag a spot in an
introductory philosophy class for some easy credits that has
built in good reading material, led by none other than my
favorite professor who taught the religious philosphy class
that i was in two semesters ago.
~~~
i've also been going deeper into taoism which i've spoken
about sparsely on twitter and not even once here. i don't
really know how
i could speak precisely about that as i'm still a rather new
practitioner, having first read the dao de jing only a year
ago or so,
but i've grown to love the perspective it gives and the
spiritual animistic philosophy without the need for
religious deities or external
explanations to the goings-ons on earth. it goes
hand-in-hand with the philosophy of panpsychism as well,
which i've
felt a belief in since i was around 16 to my memory. this
connection is through the concept of qi, but i don't want to
go into
too much detail or else this'll become a bit of an essay...
~~~
as for the political situation, everything sucks and i wish
i could disappear. but that won't happen so i just have to
endure.
i got some new sweaters a couple days ago. that's always
nice. temperatures will conveniently be dropping a lot
next week, which is always nice. there's a nice cafe in
mount clemens called the black cat. i might go there
sometime once the
temperatures fall further. or buscemi's. i like sandwiches.
i can't really think of much else to type.
i love my friends dearly :)
today was weird
anyways. thanks for reading
yes
it'll technically be the 16th when this is published but i'm
typing this at 11:57 p.m.
pretty strange day. woke up at 10 a.m. which already set
things off differently, as i'm the type to stay up late and
subsequently
get up late over the summer (the dreadful night owl curse).
had an espresso to wake me up but it did next to nothing.
but the
reason i got up that early was because i was gonna see my
beloved high school marching band's first performance of the
season :)
got there and immediately felt the usual
"anxiety-ridden-band-camp-stomach-drop-&-nausea". guess
i still haven't overcome the
slight mental anguish of realizing "oh shit i'm gonna be in
deep pain for a week away from home". but i'm in college so
luckily
i was just a spectator. that was probably obvious though.
but when i got on that grass field to walk to a couple
people
i instinctively started using proper marching technique
(straight legged + parallel feet + heel-arch-ball-toe +
stab-close)
even did the "push -> one-cross-two - three -
four"-and-so-on vocal in my head.
it's a show about dreams though! and a best friend of mine
who i helped out a lot in my sr. year got a solo (trumpet)!
very very
proud of her. also very proud of the mellophones. i miss
playing the mellophone. probably will at the alumni game.
there are a couple jazzy bits in said show too, which
reminded me of my senior year show about golden age
hollywood
and all the music surrounding those films.
other than that, i got a lot of "hello"s and hugs there. it
reminded me that i still have friends despite being so very
socially withdrawn and partly inept in my conversational
skills. i actually felt ill because i was unsure if
anyone there would remember me despite having graduated just
a year ago. i even got to say hi to and hug my
french horn mentor. i miss being in that band a lot. so many
friendships that i just don't know how to maintain now that
i'm not
in the same place as them every day. that proximity made it
much easier and less stressful to schedule out.
~~~
i slept for a while after that right when i got home. i mean
i had only gotten four hours of sleep and i'd woken
up hours before i usually do as i typed above.
~~~
then at around 9:30 p.m., i got a call from my brother who
was at a mutual friend's house. apparently he got a
'71 lincoln cont'l mark iii as a project car and needed help
moving it to the curb, so i went there with my father
who's got insight into that era of automotive tech. that
thing was rusty as all-living hell but it was beautiful too.
revved like a monster.
but
yeah. today was unusual, teardrop-inducing, fun, and
reminded me that maybe i am loved by some people.
thanks for reading as always kind internet strangers
changed my college schedule a
bit :) i dropped sociology of religion and intro to
public health for screenprinting and
descriptive astronomy, as i figured i took a class for
my religious studies minor last semester but hadn't
taken a
printmaking minor-req'd class since last year's fall
semester, so maybe i'll do like an alternating pattern
for my
minor classes if i'm able to. and in terms of intro to
public health, that just covered the same gen ed as
descriptive
astronomy does, and i'm no longer looking twd med school
(now i'm on board for grad school instead) so i figured
"why not have some fun" yknow. space is awesome. i still
have to switch from a B.S. program to a B.A. program
though.
also found out that now my driver's side front brake
rotor is warped so i've gotta take that into o'reilly's
some time to
get that all fixed up. probably gonna do that next week
or something.
i went to a party store for a venom energy drink (black
cherry always) and came back home.
and that's all :)
thanks for reading as always, whoever may see this
i had a stressful financial aid
call today. nothing went wrong but the person i spoke to
didn't understand
anything i was explaining despite having access to the
system where things were going wrong.
i'm supposed to pay $1.3k for tuition because i've got a
couple scholarships and loans, but when i went to the
finaid
website a few days ago to enroll in a payment plan, i
saw that the listed amount due was $1k more than
what my financial statement was showing.
"oh yeah must just be a scholarship that has yet to be
accounted for", i thought.
then i waited.
that was my mistake.
called today. apparently the 4 month payment plans are
no longer available. now they're 3 month ones. that's
one thing.
then the person behind the phone also wasn't
understanding how my payment plan said one thing but the
statement
said another thing. the entire call was just a
nothingburger because she said "oh yeah just wait until
monday when the
3 month payment plans open". she didn't even give me an
extension despite the error being on the college's part
in terms of the aid processing and stuff.
~~~
other than that, i helped my mother decorate for autumn.
that was cathartic. and now i'm typing this
after finishing the "music" page.
thanks for reading. i extend my gratitude.

some fun things happened today:
- i made this website
- i replaced my windshield wipers
- i rotated my tires
- i played minecraft and forza horizon 6
and honestly that's about it.
i would type more but today has
honestly been very uneventful for me. i haven't really had
any noteworthy
thoughts or anything as of typing this. all i've really got
on my mind is how i have to contact my college's
financial aid department so i can get some stuff sorted out
with a scholarship that hasn't processed.
other than that, i might get a ticket to see WILLIS
(synth-r&b band) live in detroit. that'd be cool if that
happens.
not sure though. i like going to concerts but do't like
being around so many people at once.
i should try stream of consciousness writing more. maybe
that'd make it easier for me to type these out.
thank you for reading and coming to my little website,
friends. i'm grateful for your interest in me.
